SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL
This past weekend, I had the privilege of ordaining a new priest, Sandy Chilese, and installing her as the Vicar of what is probably the smallest and most remote of all the congregations in the Diocese — Sts. Philip and James in Morenci.

ITEMS OF INTEREST THIS WEEK

Shop for a Cause

Looking for a special gift this holiday season? Shop the online catalog of merchandise featuring the diocesan logo! This is an easy way to evangelize, as well as promote the diocese. Since there are no production costs, all 10% of the proceeds will go to the diocesan Alleluia Fund!

Christmas Cards for the Forgotten
Remembering the marginalized, the needy, is one way to prepare and is something that may already be on our hearts this Advent season. The diocesan Prison Ministry Program Group would like to encourage everyone to expand their Christmas card list to include the ladies at Perryville Prison who attend the Episcopal worship services. Many women never receive a piece of mail during their incarceration. They suggest using the church’s address for the return address and simply sign the cards with a first name only or “Your family at (church name).” Mailing lists can be found here.

NEWS AROUND THE DIOCESE

Yuletide Concert
On Friday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Augustine’s (Tempe) and Saturday, December 19 at Church of the Nativity (Scottsdale), the public is invited to enjoy Yuletide with Bartholomew Faire. Bartholomew Faire is the Valley’s most eclectic ‘early music’ group. They’ll perform yuletide music from various European traditions through the centuries. Tickets are $20 (adults) or $5 (students and children) and can be purchased at the links above.

Live Nativity

Everyone is invited to join St. Michael’s (Coolidge) for a cup of cocoa and to celebrate a special birth at their Annual Live Nativity on Sunday, December 20 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. This is a free event.

Refugee Movie Screening

St. Peter’s (Litchfield Park) is hosting a free screening of the film Salam Neighbor on Sunday, December 20 at 1:30 p.m. This 2015 independent documentary sheds light on the experience of Syrian refugees. A brief presentation will accompany the film to suggest ways Arizonans might support refugees.
