IT’S A GREAT COUNTRY, ISN’T IT!?

Retired Sergeant Major (SGM) E. Birdsong was an Army Enlisted man living in Fairbanks, Alaska, in the spring of 2000. SGM Birdsong, now late in his life, had been asked to come and speak to a group of young Army leaders, both Officer and Enlisted, men and women, all of various races, religious background, etc. (it was a rather eclectic group to say the least) on the topic of “what it was like to be a leader in the Army of the 1950’s and 60’s.” Oh, I forgot to mention, SGM Birdsong was of African-American descent.

[ECF] Are your tenants your friends? Is that even possible? What is the relationship with the people who use your church’s space? So many of our churches these days have tenants. It’s practical, mostly. We often have more space and less money than we need, and tenants help pay the bills. When we’re lucky, our tenants are nonprofits and community organizations that do things we are proud to be associated with. Read more.

If you have not received the Summer 2016 edition of the AZ Episcopalian magazine in your mailbox, it is now available online. This issue contains information about Diocesan Convention, Episcopal Night at the DBacks, and lots of other great things going on around the Diocese. NEWS AROUND THE DIOCESE
Mariachi Luz de Luna Concert

 

 

On Sunday, July 10 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Philip’s in the Hills (Tucson), internationally acclaimed Mariachi Luz de Luna, under the direction of Ruben Martin Moreno, will perform authentic mariachi music. Most known for collaborations in recording with the alternative indie-rock group Calexico, they have appeared in festivals and venues all over Europe, from the Royal and Barbican theatres in London, to Scandinavia, to Athens, Greece. The suggested concert admission is $20 per person.
