FAITH AND FIDO

Today is national Take Your Dog to Work Day, and at Dio House we are welcoming some of our canine family members. (If you have ever been to Dio House you will know that my dog, Chappy, is a regular resident.) It is a good occasion to say something nice about our furry friends, dogs and cats, that mean so much to so many of us.

Community Outreach Grants

As a result of the vote that passed Resolution #2015-1 at last year’s Diocesan Convention, Bishop Smith was authorized to dissolve the organization of Episcopal Community Services and transfer the funds into a restricted account for the awarding of grants for various work. The Standing Committee has established the guidelines for those grants and has detailed the application process here.

Native Ministry Forum – Save the Date
On Saturday, September 3, 2016, everyone is invited to attend a forum from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Cathedral (Phoenix) that will include a review of the diocesan history with Native American ministry, reports from those currently engaged in Native American ministry, a report from our Companion Diocese, a review of Native American ministry in TEC, and an opportunity to work with our Canon for Native American Ministry in establishing a vision and direction for Native American ministry going forward. In the context of commemorating the feast of David Pendleton Oakerhater, Cheyenne Missionary, this gathering will ask how we are responding to the call to serve God and the church through Native American Ministry. Registration details will be sent to all churches soon.

Episcopal Church Foundation Webinars
ECF’s free webinars offer a way to get your congregational leadership teams engaged in the strategic, leadership, and financial topics that are essential to the health of your congregation. This summer and fall’s lineup includes webinars on endowment management, planned gifts, capital campaign basics, house church ministry, and more (some are offered in Spanish). See the schedule.
