Wishing everyone a safe and blessed Thanksgiving!

Over the past few weeks, I have been writing to you about the implications of the presentations we heard at our Diocesan Convention by the Morrison Institute. They challenged us to think about three groups of “neighbors” that we need to be aware of when we ask ourselves the question posed to Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”*

Advent Resources
Do you or your church need a little help or want to try something different for Advent? Or do you have a resource you’d like to share? ECF Vital Practices has put together a list of free resources
from near and far.

Fellowship Application Now Available

Since 1964, the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) has supported over 200 scholars and ministry leaders throughout the Episcopal Church, fostering innovation in theological formation and ministerial leadership in challenging times. The Fellows who are selected have a significant track record of going on to share their knowledge, experience, and best practices with the wider Church in transformative ways. The 2016 Fellowship application is now available.

Holiday Bazaar
On Saturday, December 5 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 6, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., join St. Michael & All Angels (Tucson) for their 22nd International Holiday Bazaar. There will be gifts, food and music. This is your opportunity to shop for unusual holiday gifts while helping over 25 nonprofit organizations!

Advent Family Night

Christ Church of the Ascension (Paradise Valley) invites the public for a service and dinner theater on Friday, December 4. At 6:00 p.m., enjoy Lessons and Carols, followed by a family dinner and presentation of “Family Portrait” and “Santa Claus & the Salvation Army” by Christ Church Players. Tickets are $20/adult, $5/child, $50/family. Please contact the church office at 602-840-8210 for reservations.

Advent Movie

Start Advent off with joy and fellowship with a screening of the film Elf (Rated PG–2003) on Saturday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s (Litchfield Park). Popcorn and Christmas cookies will be served. Everyone is welcome. Feel free to bring guests! This is an excellent opportunity to invite friends and family outside the faith community. If you have questions, please contact Claudine Pease-Wingenter.

Advent Quiet Day
Need some time for quiet reflection and meditation in the middle of all the hectic activity? Everyone is welcome to join St. Mary’s (Phoenix) on Saturday, December 5 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.for an in-town retreat in the Benedictine monastic style. Attendees will have an opportunity to experience the full Prayer Book Daily Office, and, most of all, to experience some intentional quiet time with others amidst the hectic shopping season. A soup and salad lunch will be provided. Please contact the church to RSVP for lunch.
