Covid19 Update Tues April 7th  2020

Dear St. Stephen’s,

May your Holy Week be a blessing to you in your homes.  We will record and post to our website a video for both Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.  Both services should be up on the website (click the link to see the video) by 6pm on Thursday and Friday.  Both these services will have embedded videos to watch that will be part of my homily… a sort of interview with the various disciples and others who were witnesses to Jesus’ last supper, time in the garden of Gethsemane, arrest, and crucifixion… I hope you will find them moving and meaningful.

Easter Sunday I will do a Sunrise service at 6 am that will be live and we will post ahead of Sunday a link to the Cathedral in Phoenix to see their Easter traditional service.  I had thought that our Bishop, Jennifer, would be the preacher, but she informed me she will be with her son after his (still scheduled as of this letter) surgery on Friday April 10th.  Please keep Nate and our Bishop and the family in prayer for a successful surgery and recovery.

In speaking with Bishop Jennifer today, she plans, for now, to have an online visitation with us on April 26th as a church using Zoom.  Since we cannot meet in person (and we estimate it will be sometime in May at the earliest that we might resume our church activities), this will give us a chance to have worship and see each other and interact with each other.

For many of you, using Zoom is something new and therefore anxiety laden.  I would like to schedule a once a week check-in for about an hour using Zoom to allow you to try it out and to see your smiling faces.  SO:  here is some information that you will need to join us for this first attempt at Zoom-ing together next Tuesday the 14th at noon:

Allison Cornell is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

You will need either a computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone to see and hear the meeting.  If you want to call in using your phone without video, use the “dial by your location” (pick either number) and when prompted enter the meeting ID and the password.

Using a computer or smart phone:  Either click (ctrl + click) or copy and paste the link under “Join Zoom Meeting” into your web browser.  If you already have Zoom on your computer or phone, you should be able to go to the meeting and enter the password.  If you don’t already have the Zoom application on your phone or computer, click the “download and run zoom” prompt.

After installing, you should be able to get to the meeting and enter the meeting Id and password.

The password is to limit those who are NOT invited from trying to disrupt our meeting (we hope this will not happen to us…).

As this virus spreads, we are keeping a prayer list going for those we know personally who either have the virus or who work in the medical field and are combatting the virus in others.  We will, also, take prayer requests for anything else that your find could use a little attention from God.  We especially like gratitude announcements and answers to prayers… let me know via email, phone, or text and we will add them to our list.

I hope you are all doing well and please know that I am keeping you all in my prayers to be safe and sound during our time apart.  If you want to talk to me about anything, please call me.  My cell is best during “normal” hours of 9am to 7pm.  If you have an emergency outside those hours, please call the home phone 520-335-2436.  If you call the church and leave a message, it will forward to Mark and I automatically and we can call you back.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding, patience, and support in this time of trial for us all.

May the peace, calm, and the protection of God be with you all,

Rev. Allison +
