To all St. Stephen’s members: This is an urgent message from the Arizona Education Department.  The state of AZ is planning on changing AZ education rules to remove DEI language in response to Federal enforcement.  They want input…..

Good Morning All,

Fyi…

This is time sensitive, please get the word out so our County is represented.

ADE Call for Recommendations: AZ Professional Teaching Standards

The Arizona State Board of Education has approved opening the Arizona Professional Teaching Standards (R-7-2-602) for revision to ensure alignment with Executive Order 14151, which requires eliminating
DEI or similar language. Failure to comply with this order could result in the loss of $866 million in federal funding to our state. ADE is seeking a Professional Teaching
Standards Stakeholder Working Group to assist with this work. The Arizona Professional Teaching Standards Working Group will review and recommend technical changes necessary for compliance, while preserving pedagogical integrity and workforce readiness.

All recommendations will be considered, but not all will be accepted to serve in the work group. ADE will attempt to include representation from all 15 counties, and from the following stakeholder
groups:

  • ElementaryTeachers
  • Middle School Teachers
  • High School Teachers
  • Administrators
  • Educator Preparation Programs
  • Parents
  • General Education
  • Special Education
  • Other subgroups, such as ELL, Gifted, etc.

Meetings for this stakeholder group will be virtual and hybrid, as needed, and will begin in February 2026. The goal will be to have a draft of the Arizona Professional Teaching Standards for the
Arizona State Board of Education by September 2026.
