One of the unexpected hopes I’ve discovered in the last few months arising from the renewed national attention on racial justice has been a broad ecumenical coalition of churches standing up to take action to end racism. This Saturday, I will join with other bishops and clergy from evangelical/megachurches, Black churches, Roman Catholics, and mainline Protestants for “From Chaos and Crisis to Community in Christ: The Church addresses systemic racism through Confession, Repentance, Reconciliation, Restoration, and Commitment.”

The Council for Native American Ministry continues to respond to the COVID-19 crisis in our Native American communities. You may be aware that the White Mountain Apache tribe is currently listed as having the highest number of positive cases per capita of any tribe in AZ. They are struggling to care for the high number of individuals infected and those who are in quarantine.

During this crisis, Bishop Reddall envisions the Diocesan Office being a clearing house for questions and a source of connection for congregations in need. The Diocese has set up a resources page on our website to include links for prayer, reliable information about COVID-19, support for clergy and lay mental health, and helping churches stay connected online.

Remember in your Prayers of the People:
Our companion Diocese:
The Diocese of Arizona’s Companion Relationship with the Diocese of Navajoland concluded some time ago. Companion Diocese relationships are generally for a specific time period. Arizona is presently in the process of establishing a new companion relationship with a different diocese. Our support, friendship, and prayers for the Diocese of Navajoland continue unabated, however.
And those who have asked for our prayers:
- All healthcare workers
- All first responders
- All members of the Armed Forces, especially those who are serving overseas
- All those affected by incarceration
- All those affected by recent weather, natural disasters, and civil unrest
