National Preparedness Month

[FEMA] National Preparedness Month (NPM), recognized each September, provides an opportunity to remind us that we all must prepare ourselves and our families for disaster now and throughout the year. Make a plan today. Your family may not be together if a disaster strikes, so it is important to know which types of disasters could affect your area. Know how you’ll contact one another and reconnect if separated. Establish a family meeting place that’s familiar and easy to find.
Church ‘Cannot, Will Not Walk Away’ from Role
[ENS] Churches are the on the front line of mediation efforts across the world, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby told the United Nations Security Council on Aug. 29, in part because churches often are “the only functioning institutions in a fragile or pre-conflict situation.” He said that churches and other faith communities are “intimately present where there are conflicts; we cannot and will not walk away from them.” Read more.

Registration for the Children’s program at Convention is open. Children’s and Nursery programs are offered for ages infant through 6th grade on Friday, October 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 20, from 8:15 a.m. to close of Convention. Farewell Dinner
Everyone is welcome to attend the dinner honoring Bishop and Laura Smith on Friday, October 19, though there will be limited seating. The cost for the dinner is $40.00. We expect that demand for reservations to say goodbye to Bishop and Mrs. Smith will be high, so please do not wait to make your reservations!
