LABOR DAY–A LITTLE LATE

Labor Day for most of us is the start of the new “work year” — church programs begin, kids go back to school, the office activity ramps up, and the social calendar begins to fill up.
Over my Labor Day break a couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to reflect on attitudes to work and how I might revise my own approach to work a bit. So even though it is a bit late, I would like to share those thoughts with you.

NEWS AROUND THE DIOCESE
Walking the Mourner’s Path Facilitator Training

St. Anthony on the Desert (Scottsdale) is hosting a three-day Walking the Mourners Path Facilitator Training from November 8-10, 2018. Walking the Mourner’s Path is a unique ministry which started with the question, “where is God in my pain?” and the recognition that in many faith communities there is an unmet need for an effective ministry for those in grief. Churches that offer the ministry identify at least two individuals to attend a Walking the Mourner’s Path Facilitator Training School. In addition to learning about the program, training participants learn how to implement the program by building on existing Pastoral Care ministries. For more information and to register, please visit the Walking the Mourner’s Path website or email Catherine Gilbert, Program Director.

CONVENTION NEWS
Children’s Program

Registration for the Children’s program at Convention is open. Children’s and Nursery programs are offered for ages infant through 6th grade on Friday, October 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 20, from 8:15 a.m. to close of Convention. Children will enjoy music, arts and crafts, stories, and lots of fun! Preregistration is required for all ages.

Farewell Dinner
Everyone is welcome to attend the dinner honoring Bishop and Laura Smith on Friday, October 19, though there will be limited seating. The cost for the dinner is $40.00. We expect that demand for reservations to say goodbye to Bishop and Mrs. Smith will be high, so please do not wait to make your reservations! The deadline for dinner reservations is Friday, September 28.
More details and forms for all of the above can be found on the Diocesan Convention webpage.
