Canada: Same-sex marriage motion ‘not likely’ to pass in Order of Bishops
A resolution before General Synod this summer to change the Anglican Church of Canada’s marriage canon to allow same-sex marriage is “not likely” to get the number of votes it needs from bishops, according to a statement sent by the House of Bishops to Council of General Synod (CoGS), and released publicly Feb. 29.
Archbishops of York medieval records digitized, available online
More than 10,000 individual handwritten parchment folios belonging to the Archbishops of York between 1225 and 1650 have been digitally scanned and are now being made available online. The York Registers, produced by the University of York, is said to be “one of the most important collections of historical materials to survive in England today.”
Mission to Seafarers expands with new center in Myanmar
The city of Yangon in Myanmar is home to the Mission to Seafarers’ newest port facility. The Anglican mission agency’s newest mission centre was dedicated on Feb. 28 during a service at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon).
