Episcopal Relief & Development 75th Anniversary Celebration exceeds goals
Thanks to the generous support and coordinated efforts of thousands of Episcopalians and friends, Episcopal Relief & Development’s 75th Anniversary Celebration exceeded its goals for fundraising and engagement throughout the Church and beyond. During the 75-week celebration, the organization raised $7.94 million as part of a special campaign, and connected with supporters through live events, webinars, stories and a traveling photo exhibition.

‘Mind the Gap,’ growing disciples in Peru
Churches in South America have been growing at a phenomenal rate, but, according to the Bishop of Peru, the Rt Revd Bill Godfrey, and his team of lay workers, there has been a gap. “If you ask the average person in Peru if they are a Christian, the majority will say they are, but how that makes a difference in their day to day lives is much more limited,” says lay worker Paul Tester. “A lot of people don’t have the word discipleship in their vocabulary and we’ve been trying to help people understand what it means to be a disciple of Christ.”
Swaziland declares national emergency as draught intensifies
The government of Swaziland has declared a national emergency as the land-locked southern African nation continues to suffer the effects of a devastating drought. The Prime Minister, Dr B Sibusio Dlamini, said that the draught, which began in 2014 as a result of the El Nino weather event, has “deepened in severity, with a path that has defied regional weather forecasting” and has had “devastating consequences.”
