ALLELUIA, CHRIST IS RISEN!
It was fascinating to experience Holy Week and Easter as a bishop for the first time. It brought home to me how little of parish priesthood is the actual liturgies for those days, and how much is the planning and preparation for those liturgies and the surrounding activities. As bishop, I planned almost nothing except my sermons. I dropped in to parishes to preach and preside, greeted people warmly, and was the beneficiary of hospitality and prayers and good will.

Building Begins on Lego Replica of National Cathedral

[ENS] Eight years after a magnitude 5.8 earthquake toppled parts of Washington National Cathedral as if they were toy blocks, people of all ages are spending $2 a brick to construct the world’s largest Lego cathedral to help pay for the building’s remaining repairs. Read more.
7 Steps Toward Intergenerational Discipleship
[ECF] When someone in the church speaks of “formation,” many think of the traditional Sunday school classroom, the glories of glitter and glue with small children and goodies-to-go bags on the first Sunday of Lent. Youth, however, are more likely to cringe at the prospect of a visit from parish clergy to their otherwise fun meetings. And adults recall enduring yet another adult forum on the physics of the crucifixion or on the details of this year’s new, improved program to recruit young families and save the congregation. Summer Camp Update
The W.I.L.D. program at Chapel Rock for week one (June 2-8) is FULL! There are still spaces available in the other two W.I.L.D. sessions (June 16-22 and June 23-29), as well as all other summer camp sessions. If you haven’t registered your camper(s) yet, visit the camp website and get them signed up today!

I Am Asking You to Give Hope
In December, I was privileged to join Archdeacon Sarah Getts, Deacon Ruth Hooper and Rev. Henry Hoffman on a journey to Nogales, Mexico, to tour two of five shelters that offer temporary living for refugees mostly from South America. The five shelters are sponsored heavily by Episcopal churches and house approximately 1,200 beds. Read more.
