CHARITY IN THE LONG RUN

 

These past few weeks have been marked by what seems to be a never-ending series of natural disasters. It started with Hurricane Florence in the Southeast. Folks there are still cleaning up after that one, and now got another blow from Hurricane Michael, which hit a couple of days ago, a storm unprecedented in its strength. Even in Arizona, we felt the punch of Hurricane Rosa, which caused severe flooding. And the state of Hawaii is still reeling from Hurricane Lane.

Financial Transparency
[EVP] Transparency is a “buzzword” in many situations. It means many things to many people, but generally elicits a positive response in most minds–transparency is a good thing. When applied to the church as a whole and to a local parish, school or other church organization in particular, it begs the question, “transparency of what?” Read more.

Jazz at Twilight Concert
On Sunday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist (Glendale), the Sandra Bassett Trio will perform. The concert is open to the public. Donations are accepted. Bring a friend!

CONVENTION NEWS
Children’s Program 
Registration for the Children’s program at Convention is open. Children’s and Nursery programs are offered for ages infant through 6th grade on Friday, October 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 20, from 8:15 a.m. to close of Convention. Children will enjoy music, arts and crafts, stories, and lots of fun! Preregistration is required for all ages.
General Convention Constitutional Amendments
Amendments to the Constitution of The Episcopal Church passed at the 2018 General Convention must be made known as per Article XII of the Constitution of The Episcopal Church. Please take time to read them.
